Admissions Policy

Requirements For Consideration

To be considered for admission, a child must be between the ages of 3 mos and 14 years.

Children will be admitted as students at Chenal Valley Montessori School according to the following priorities:

Younger children will be accepted before older ones. Four-year old children are admitted before five-year old children. Three-year old children are admitted before four-year old children. This is the first priority and is considered before any others. We will admit a minimum number of five-year old children. The classes will be made up primarily of three and four-year old children with the five-year olds who have grown up in the school.

Siblings of children already enrolled will be admitted before a child in a family new to the school. This is the second priority.
The school reserves the right to deviate from any of the above priorities in order to achieve a balance of ages and sexes in the classes.

Probationary Admission

All children and families admitted are considered to be on probation the first six weeks of class. In the event that a child proves to require more than a fair share of teacher/staff time and attention for any reason, the school reserves the right to dismiss that child. In such cases, a proportionate amount of tuition and fees may be refunded.

Elementary Program

Basic Characteristics of CVMS Program for Elementary Age Children

CVMS classrooms for elementary-age children are filled with diverse sets of Montessori materials, activity centers, and other learning experiences. The atmosphere encourages social interaction, small group, and whole class learning activities.

CVMS has developed a rich and diversified curriculum for our six to twelve-year-olds. We are engaging several of the centers in our metropolitan area to enhance our art, music, and history. These centers are: Arkansas Museum of Science and History, Arkansas Art Center, Little Rock City Libraries.

Parent Conferences

Parent conferences are scheduled at least twice a year and as requested.

Uniforms

CVMS elementary children are required to wear uniforms. A more detailed handout will be given to parents before the child starts school. The official uniform code for elementary and middle school students is listed in the student handbook..
